It’s American Diabetes Month

November 21, 2014 in LifeCare Health Services

Nearly 30 million children and adults in the United States have diabetes. What’s more, another 86 million have prediabetes and are at high risk for developing Type 2 diabetes. American Diabetes Month (ADM) was started by the American Diabetes Association to raise awareness and understanding of the disease, its consequences, management and prevention. ADM is held each November, and this year’s theme is America Gets Cooking to Stop Diabetes. The purpose of this year’s theme is to teach the public to cook healthier by providing practical cooking tips, health and nutrition facts, and recipe ideas.
